Punk Hairstyles

The most popular punk rock hair style has got to be the Mohawk. While it looks super easy to maintain, a Mohawk it can be a little tricky depending on the length of your hair. If it is a longer Mohawk that you have getting it to stand straight up, and evenly at that, can be a real pain.

All it takes is a lot of patience, gel and a blow dryer. The right kind of gel can make a huge difference in the outcome and length of time spent on your Mohawk. When you are searching for the right gel, make sure it is a gel that dries hard or stiff and has a super hold or maximum strength hold so that it can take the weight of your Mohawk standing up.

When you are trying to make your ‘hawk’ stand up, start by putting the gel in at the roots, then blow drying while holding the hair straight up. Inch your way up adding gel making sure that the Mohawk stays straight up and is even all the way to the back.

There are also Mohawks that don’t go all the way to the back of the neck, instead they stop at the dome of the head. This type of Mohawk seems more practical to me for children. This way they can lean their heads back and not worry about messing up their newly spiked hawks.

Punk girl hairstyles are very popular in teenagers because teenage girls love to express themselves physically, so their hair and clothing are the first thing they change in order to express themselves in their own individual way. Rebellion is also another reason teens choose punk hairstyles, to rebel against today’s modern and so called ‘normal’ looks.

Wild and crazy colors are almost always found in punk hair styles for both girls and guys. Some characteristics of punk hair cuts are their crazy cuts, funky styles and their vibrant color combinations.

Most punk hair styles feature unusual and unique colors and color combinations. The most common colors are blues, pinks, oranges, greens, and purples specifically in neon shades. For a punk hairstyle to stand out the colors may be applied to their whole head as a solid color or just in as highlights.

Highlights are more common because the individual is able to use more of those different, crazy colors. In the end it is definitely the overall style that determines the punk hair style.

A crazy punk rock style is called the flyaway, in which the hair is let loose and seems not to be styled, but at the same time you can clearly see that it is a style.

Other styles are just decided by the punk individual. It can be braids, spikes, crazy accessories, weird and unusual parts in the hair. Anything you can imagine, you can have as your very own punk hair style.
