Prom Updos

One classic prom updo is the 1940s style ‘flapper’ hairdo, it is a classic style that looks radiantly beautiful with most prom dress styles, and it is not a hard updo to attain.

Although this particular style works best with naturally curly or wavy hair, even if you don’t have that you can still create the same look by using gel, and curlers.

  1. Start with clean dry hair that has been curled, of if you have naturally curly hair you wouldn‘t need to curl it, then apply some hair gel or styling mousse throughout the hair.
  2. Part hair more to one side, and pull it gently back careful not to damage the waves in the hair.
  3. Curl your hair under in the back. You will need to pin the curls up in place at the back of your neck using long straight hairpins, being careful to hide them inside the hair using at least three or four so that the style will be sure to stay. Make sure that you place the pins in the hair in opposite directions so that they will overlap hair and stay in place.

If you have short hair and are worried about what to do with it for your prom, don’t you worry, just try something new, don’t keep up your same short hairdo routine, think outside of the box and create your own style, or try this attractive prom updo for short hair.

With hair length between the ears and chin, try this edgy gorgeous little prom updo:

  1. First, while your hair is still wet, use a frizz controlling product so that when blow drying you don’t get a dry brittle, frizzy outcome.
  2. After you douse your hair with anti frizz, blow dry your hair with a diffuser attachment until your hair is completely dry, then with a paddle brush, brush your hair in the direction you want it to lay.
  3. If you want your hair to come more forward at the cheek level, you should switch to a smaller brush that has been misted with styling gel and brush the hair forward. The gel should help to hold the hair in its place.
  4. To finish off this short edgy prom updo simply spray with hairspray or a shine finishing spray and it will complete your look.

The sophisticated prom updo is a very popular one for teen girls with long hair today. To get this style, simply follow these easy steps:

  1. You first need to first wash and condition your hair. In damp hair, put some styling lotion in and work it down to the roots.
  2. Blow dry your hair until all the way dry.
  3. Now either use hot rollers to curl your hair or you can use a simple curling iron spraying the hair with hair spray before rolling.
  4. As soon as the curls are done, tease each curl by gently pulling the hair from the root. Be careful to make sure that you keep chunky pieces of curls together and pull your hair back into a loose ponytail.
  5. Next, take the chunky pieces of hair, one separate chunk at a time, roll it up and then pin it upward on the dome of your head.
  6. Continue doing this with all of the pieces of the ponytail, careful to alternate rolling each piece in and out while keeping each chunk in place with pins and hairspray.
  7. To complete this prom updo for long hair simply spray with a finishing spray, shine spray, or hairspray and voila!
